Serve the city day

>>>Everyone meets at the Loft for project check-in, light breakfast, and an inspiring devotional.

We believe that God wants the CHURCH to help connect PEOPLE'S COMPASSION with OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE. Join us as we live beyond ourselves in our community.

We are encouraging everyone who is able to bring a $5 gift card to Starbucks or Coffee Bean on the morning of Serve the City. We will collect them at the Loft first thing, and they will be used as incentives for our new reunification program being implemented at Alameda Park. We are working with Uffizi to help our friends without homes get reunified with family or friends "back home." Our goal is to collect 100 gift cards! For more information on this process, email Erin Beck

Santa Barbara Junior High School:

SBJHS is our home away from home — the place where we meet to worship together on Sunday mornings.

>>We'll be weeding, doing yard clean-up, some litter pick-up, and general beautification. This is a kid-friendly project site with lots of hands-on projects for people who aren't afraid to get a little dirty and use their fix-it skills.

Uffizi Sock Outreach to Friends without Homes:

Uffizi Order exists to equip the community to lovingly engage the marginalized while actively working for the betterment of their physical, spiritual, emotional, and mental needs. Since 2005, they have led collaborative efforts to abolish homelessness. Today, they are at the forefront of issues facing the marginalized populations of Santa Barbara, from homelessness to trafficking.

>>We'll be delivering socks to people living on the streets in the downtown area. This is a kid-friendly project perfect for families who love to connect with others, show compassion together and build relationships in our community.

Backyard Bounty:

The Backyard Bounty program is a volunteer-powered gleaning program of the Foodbank of Santa Barbara County. Since the program began in late 2007, Foodbank Volunteers have harvested over 500,000 pounds of produce from private properties in the Santa Barbara area. This fresh, nutritious produce, including oranges, limes, avocados, persimmons and tangerines, gets distributed to those in need throughout the Santa Barbara County.

>>We'll be picking produce from orchards and private properties around Santa Barbara to be donated to the Food Bank. This is a kid-friendly project perfect for families who want to bond with others in the community out picking fruit in the orchards.

Making Care Packages for GLOW Outreach:

GLOW @ Alameda Park exists to feed, serve, and fellowship with those in Santa Barbara experiencing homelessness, with the ultimate goal of connecting them to resources that will help be part of the solution to end homelessness in our community.

>>We'll be staying at the Loft to put together care kits to pass out through the winter months at GLOW, containing shampoo, conditioner, granola bars, water bottles, and socks. This is a kid-friendly project perfect for families with children of any ages who love to help others through organization and care package creation!

Franklin Elementary School:

We have partnered with the teachers and staff at Franklin Elementary School in many ways, especially in the area of literacy and homework help. They are the closest elementary school to where we worship Sunday mornings at SBJHS, and we hope to have a long, fulfilling relationship with them.

>>We'll be landscaping, spreading ground cover, and doing school facility clean-up. This is a kid-friendly project site for anyone willing to get their hands dirty.

International Students, Inc. (ISI) Thanksgiving Dinner Help:

ISI is a Christian service organization that helps international students have positive experiences while studying in the U.S., through organizing activities and introducing them to international and American friends.

•Thanksgiving Dinner Food Prep in the morning @ Montecito Covenant Church.

•Thanksgiving Dinner Set-Up in the morning @ Montecito Covenant Church.

•Thanksgiving Dinner Takedown @ 7:30PM @ Montecito Covenant Church.

MONTECITO COVENANT CHURCH is located at 671 Cold Springs Rd.

>>Depending on the time slot you sign up for, volunteers will be prepping food, setting up, cleaning up and taking down the Thanksgiving dinner that will be served that day to the international students. This is a family-friendly project site.

Habitat for Humanity:

Habitat for Humanity partners with low-income individuals and families in southern Santa Barbara County to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. With our help, these homeowners achieve the support and independence they need to build a better life for themselves and their families.

>>We'll be cleaning up and organizing home furnishing and hardware donations at the ReStore warehouse in Goleta. This project site requires all participants to be OVER THE AGE OF 16.

Noah's Anchorage Youth Crisis Center:

Noah's Anchorage is a licensed residential eight-bed group home for children 10-17 years of age under the service of the YMCA. They provide outreach to youth and young adults in crisis.

>>We'll be hanging Christmas lights, moving furniture, and decorating Thanksgiving baskets. Children are welcome at this project site as long as they are well-supervised.
